A Family Trip to The Dells

January 24, 2023

If you are looking for a fun family trip, Wisconsin Dells is a family playground with SO many things to do. We had a great weekend vacation there last fall and we can’t wait to go back! We stayed at the Wilderness Resort which is America’s Largest Waterpark Resort! The Wilderness Territory has 4 indoor and 4 outdoor waterparks, over a dozen attractions, 3 mega arcades, an 18-hole championship golf course, spa, plenty of onsite dining, and hundreds of different lodging options from various styles of hotel rooms, villas, condominiums, and even luxurious five bedroom cabins! And yes, waterparks are included with your stay!

We stayed in a Wilderness on the Lake condo, which had a kitchen, washer/dryer, dining room, living room, multiple bedrooms, a sunroom, fireplace, and whirlpool! We had access to the main Wilderness Resort by a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes or so. The condos and cabins would be great to share with another family or grandparents. There are tons of dining options at the resort and many restaurants deliver directly to the hotel. We tried Moosejaw and it was great!

Off the resort, we did the Original Wisconsin Duck Tour, which we all loved! This tour on the Wisconsin River and Lake Delton explores over four miles of exclusive scenic wilderness trails. I think this is great for all ages! We had brunch at Bella Goose (the cinnamon rolls were SO good!) and it’s super cute inside.

Then went go-karting, played games, visited the climbing area, did some mini-golf, and more. We ended each day with a nighttime swim at our resort. I definitely recommend this smaller part of the resort if you have little ones under 10. We topped the weekend off at the indoor food truck space, Grateful Shed, which has a little of something for everyone to eat.

If you’re looking for something educational and fun, you can also check out the area’s many museums. The Wisconsin Dells is home to the International Crane Foundation, which features a variety of crane species. The Dells also features the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory, a hands-on family-friendly science museum, as well as the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum.

No matter what you’re looking for in a family vacation, the Wisconsin Dells has something for everyone. With its wide variety of activities and attractions, you’re sure to have a great time. So plan your trip today and let me know if you have any other suggestions!
