We all know summer in Chicago is pure magic, but it’s especially true with the kids. The Chicago Parks do so many free and fun things for kids of all ages, It’s the best. Whether you’re catching a movie under the stars, dancing in a park, or introducing your little ones to their first symphony concert, there’s something special (and often free!) happening almost every night.

Here are the best family-friendly outdoor movies and concerts in Chicago for Summer 2025, plus a few indoor options perfect for rainy days or a special night out.

Millennium Park Summer Film Series

📍 Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park

This iconic downtown movie night is back with a packed lineup that’s perfect for all ages. Bring your blankets, snacks, and glow sticks!

🧺 What to Pack for a Family Outdoor Night:

  • Picnic blanket or oversized camping chairs – we have two of these!
  • Bug spray & sunscreen – this bug spray is plant based and great on sensitive skin
  • Light jackets (it gets chilly!)
  • Kid-friendly snacks + water
  • Glow sticks or bubbles to keep kids busy before showtime
  • Noise-canceling headphones for sensitive ears – they come in a 2-pack, they are great for concerts, on the train, at school, etc. Mila wears them often!
